Instagram has announced a new feature to expand the capabilities of its stories feature.
The new feature is called "Type mode," and as the name suggests, it lets you post stories with just text, with no need to snap a picture or record a video.
In order to use this new feature, you can click on the Instagram stories' viewfinder and select "Type," which will show up as an optional, Live, etc. Type sits all the way to the left. Once you've chosen the option, all you have to do is start typing.
You can also play around with different background colors, text styles, etc. Much like the regular photos and video stories, Type stories will also disappear in 24 hours unless you decide to highlight it in your account.
Although it is just an incremental update to stories, it is expected to be quite handy. If you are an avid Instagram stories user, then you must have seen a lot of people sharing stories with just texts. It shows how the company is paying attention to the way people use the stories feature.
