There’s a whole lot of hype around the OnePlus 6 and the company is only piling on to this with tidbits dropping in every day. Earlier today, OnePlus India announced ticket giveaways for the Avengers: Infinity War. And now, the company has confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will feature a glass back with five-layer Nanotech Coating.

OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau announced this on the official forum in a long post about ‘Honest Design’. “Excellent industrial design should give people a sense of ease, which is best embodied by a burdenless feeling,” Lau said, adding, “A company needs to be honest about the design of the product. It also needs to work on a daily basis to refine the subtle details, even if those details may seem minor.”

Lau recounted how he met a OnePlus user in 2015, who thought the sandstone back on the OnePlus 1 “most clearly differentiated” the company from other smartphone makers. Lau said the user wanted sandstone finish on more OnePlus devices, but was also impressed with metal body of the OnePlus 3, which the company released that year. “Although sandstone black is different, we must look at the overall effect of the product and take an honest, impartial stance in order to improve the overall result.”

Lau said the OnePlus 6 went through many iterations of design before the company settled on the design. “Appearance-wise, we’ve always maintained our signature horizon line and precise curve to the back of the device. From the OnePlus One to the OnePlus 5T, the horizon line and characteristic curve have remained as important elements of our design language.”

The CEO also mentioned that the company has incorporated glass materials on OnePlus 6, to provide users with a different “interpretation of a familiar material”.

The additional layers give the back of the device a stronger impression of depth that our most demanding users will surely appreciate. Closely examine the OnePlus 6 and you’ll indeed see this subtle nuance embedded in each device.

Lau said, “The advantages of glass over metal are manifold: glass communicates a transparent, bright, and pure feeling. The way glass transforms under different lighting is a particularly important challenge—the OnePlus design team tested over 70 glass prototypes before selecting the best one.”

Talking more about the glass back, Lau added that it would have five printed layers of Nanotech Coating, a first for the smartphone industry, where manufacturers usually apply three coatings. OnePlus says, “The additional layers give the back of the device a stronger impression of depth that our most demanding users will surely appreciate. Closely examine the OnePlus 6 and you’ll indeed see this subtle nuance embedded in each device.”

WhatsApp Beta for Android Now Lets You Lock Voice Message Recording

WhatsApp for Android has received a new beta version that brings the ability to lock recording of voice messages. This was previously added to WhatsApp for iPhone and is designed to let users conveniently record long voice messages without holding the record button down the entire time. It is also reported that WhatsApp is working to add an option to play voice messages before they're sent to the receiver.

The feature to lock voice recording on WhatsApp beta for Android is identical to what has been offered on iPhone since November. It was also reportedly tested internally last year. To lock recording of your voice messages, tap and hold the mic icon for 0.5 seconds and then slide up your finger toward the lock button. The voice recording once locked can easily be sent by tapping the Send button. This means that you'll not be required to hold down the mic button for as long as you're recording your voice message. Furthermore, you can anytime tap the Cancel button, available next to the timer, to trash your recording.

Moto G6 Unveiling on April 19: All You Need To Know

According to an invite sent to Android Pit (Brazil), Lenovo-owned Motorola will hold a launch event on April 19.
While the company didn’t reveal exactly what’s in store, speculation is that the entire Moto G6 lineup, including the Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play will be unveiled.

Moto G6
Moto G6 is likely to be the first smartphone from the company to feature the modern 18:9 aspect ratio display. The device is expected to sport a new 5.7-inch Full HD+ screen, which will be marketed as a Max Vision due to its taller design but the rear will bring along a similar 3D glass back as the Moto X4.

Internally, we expect it to be powered by a 1.8 GHz octa-core Snapdragon chipset, there is no info available on the RAM, specific SoC and storage configurations but 32GB is likely to be the base option. The fingerprint sensor has been placed on the front, allowing you to assign gestures to control your G6. There’s also a decent 3,000mAh battery pack and TurboPower charger, which is going to make it simpler for you to keep your phone juiced up.

As for the optics, the Moto G6 will follow the ongoing trend and feature a dual-lens camera setup, the details of which are unknown, but we know that an 8MP front camera is going to be available for your perfect selfie shots.

The device will also integrate a fully-featured Manual Mode, Beautification Mode, and the trendy Face Unlock feature.

Moto G6 Play
Coming to the more affordable variant, the Moto G6 Play will also feature a similar 5.7-inch Max View display but the resolution will be dropped to HD. This device will be powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, coupled with at least 2GB/3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The Moto G Play lineup, as we know, has always been particularly focused on battery life. The Moto G6 could sport a 4,000mAh battery pack to power the device and provide you up to 36 hours on a single charge.

moto g6 play featured

OIn the optics department, the Moto G6 Play is expected to feature a 13MP camera on the rear, with phase detection auto-focus (PDAF), quick capture, best shot, manual, and beautification mode. The camera on the front is expected to be a 5MP that a lot of people might find not quite enough, but there is an LED flash on the front.

The AI camera features seem to be missing on this device since it places a major focus on battery life.

RBI Considering Central Digital Currency; Bars Cryptocurrency Trade by Regulated Entities

The status of cryptocurrencies in India has not been particularly clear, especially when it comes to gaining acceptance by the Reserve Bank of India or the government.
Back when Bitcoin’s market value was soaring at an unprecedented pace, RBI cautioned citizens about the risks associated with the cryptocurrency trade, while the Ministry of Finance straight up labeled cryptocurrencies as a Ponzi scheme. RBI has now issued a new directive which prohibits institutions falling under RBI’s regulation from engaging in cryptocurrency trade.

Aside from forbidding financial bodies from dealing in cryptocurrencies, RBI has also asked them to sever ties with all private firms and parties that are involved in cryptocurrency trade.

“Reserve Bank has repeatedly cautioned users, holders and traders of virtual currencies, including Bitcoins, regarding various risks associated in dealing with such virtual currencies. In view of the associated risks, it has been decided that, with immediate effect, entities regulated by RBI shall not deal with or provide services to any individual or business entities dealing with or settling VCs. Regulated entities which already provide such services shall exit the relationship within a specified time.”, said RBI in a statement.

RBI has pointed that cryptocurrencies pose serious concerns about consumer protection and market integrity, aside from possibly facilitating crimes like money laundering.

In the statement released today, RBI has also revealed its intentions of launching a central digital currency, which if introduced, will go into circulation in tandem with the prevalent paper and coin based currency.

Regarding its plans to launch a centralized digital currency, RBI said,“While many central banks are still engaged in the debate, an inter-departmental group has been constituted by the Reserve Bank to study and provide guidance on the desirability and feasibility to introduce a central bank digital currency. The Report will be submitted by end-June 2018.”

Jio Cricket Festival Brings Rs 251 IPL 2018 Pack and Jio Cricket Play Along Experience

Image result for Jio Cricket Festival Brings Rs 251 IPL 2018 Pack and Jio Cricket Play Along ExperienceDays ahead of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), India’s fastest-growing telecom operator, Reliance Jio, has launched a Rs. 251 prepaid recharge pack that offers 102GB data with a validity of 51 days. In addition, the company is announcing a Jio Cricket Play Along experience to add a second-screen dimension to IPL viewing.

In a press statement, the company describes the STV (special tariff voucher) as “a Cricket Season Pack that will allow cricket lovers to get access to their favourite live matches on mobile and stream almost every LIVE match throughout the duration of 51 days”.

The company has also roped in popular comedian Sunil Grover and anchor Samir Kochhar to host the ‘Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan’ live show that will air every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So in case you’re a Jio or Airtel subscriber, you can watch the IPL without any additional expense on the Hotstar app, unlike users of Vodafone or Idea.

Zuckerberg Says Facebook WIll Give EU’s GDPR Privacy Controls to All Users

Rebutting recent reports that claimed Facebook will not implement Europe’s stringent General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) privacy safeguards outside of the EU, the company’s embattled CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has announced that the company “intend(s) to make all the same controls available everywhere, not just in Europe”.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday about the Cambridge Analytica data breach and the ensuing controversy, Zuckerberg also reportedly praised the GDPR, saying “Overall I think regulations like this are very positive”. He, however, threw in a word of caution for anybody expecting the rules to be implemented in an identical manner across all regions and jurisdictions, saying that the company is still trying to figure out how to tailor those regulations to better suit each individual market around the world.

“Is it going to be exactly the same format? Probably not. We’ll need to figure out what makes sense in different markets with different laws in different places. But let me repeat this, we’re going to make all the same controls and settings available everywhere, not just in Europe”

It’s important to note here that an official Facebook spokesperson has since reportedly clarified to TechCrunch that the company intends to “comply with GDPR’s data privacy rules around the world”, and not just provide GDPR ‘controls and settings’ as mentioned by Zuckerberg.

Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the company will give all users everywhere the same GDPR privacy rules that Europe has enforced.
Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the company will give all users everywhere the same GDPR privacy rules that Europe has enforced.
However, the spokesperson also pointed out that implementing GDPR’s new laws for Europe may not always be possible in all regions around the world, because laws in other jurisdictions may conflict with the GDPR regulations.

GDPR, enacted by the EU Parliament back in April 2016, is slated to come into effect on May 25th replacing the 1995 Data Protection Directive, and looks to address privacy concerns of EU citizens by imposing stringent regulations on the export of personal data outside the EU.
